Doctors Luiz Francisco Cardoso and Alvaro Sarkis said in a statement that Lula remained in an ICU (Intensive Care Unit) and spent Wednesday without complications.
He underwent physiotherapy, walked, and received visits from family members.
“As part of the therapeutic program, he will complement his surgery with an endovascular embolization of the middle meningeal artery (MMA),” stated the hospital where Lula has been hospitalized since Tuesday.
The Presidency’s press office reported that the surgery would not be performed at the surgical center.
The procedure is a catheterization and a “protocol part” of the surgery already performed.
Lula had a headache on Monday evening, and after an MRI scan at a hospital in Brasilia, he was transferred to a Sao Paulo unit.
On early Tuesday, the head of State underwent trepanation to drain an intracranial hemorrhage.
The operation resulted in a domestic accident suffered on October 19, when Lula fell in a bathroom of his home at the Alvorada Palace (the Presidency in Brasilia), and hit the back of his head.
