The Dominican Republic is one of the main commercial partners of the largest of the Antilles in the Caribbean and the two nations maintain close bilateral ties in the area of ​​cultural and academic exchanges.

Likewise, the Dominican Republic supports every year the resolution that Cuba presents to the UN General Assembly condemning the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States.
