The number of returnees, since the fall of the government of President Bashar al-Assad on December 8, amounted to about 75,000, who entered Syria through ten border crossings from Türkiye, Jordan, and Lebanon, the team affirmed in a statement.
It noted that 33,881 internally displaced people (IDPs) returned from Türkiye, 19,832 from Lebanon, and 21,372 from Jordan.
IDPs, in turn, continue to leave camps and localities in northern Syria to return to their original areas. Some 89,589 civilians have returned home.
Although Syrians continue to return, the numbers remain lower than expected. Many refugees are waiting for basic services to improve in their villages before deciding to return, the team stated.
