A statement from the League, headed by Congresswoman Silvana Robles, made it clear that Cuba, which it describes as a sister nation, should never have been included on that list.
“This measure, although late, represents a positive step in the recognition of the true nature of the Cuban people and government, which have repeatedly demonstrated their commitment to peace and international cooperation,” it said.
The Peruvian-Cuban Parliamentary League congratulates the Government of President Miguel Diaz-Canel and the noble Cuban people, who “have resisted with dignity and integrity decades of unjustified pressures and sanctions.”
The Peruvian-Cuban Parliamentary League considered that Washington’s recent measures should be the first step towards normalizing diplomatic relations between Cuba and the United States.
“We join the international call for the immediate and definitive lifting of the economic, commercial and financial blockade that has severely affected the Cuban people for more than 60 years, a measure that has been consistently condemned by the international community,” it added.
The Peru-Cuba Parliamentary League also ratifies its unwavering commitment to the Republic of Cuba and supports its sovereign right to determine its own destiny, free from external interference and pressure.
