The project will be implemented between 2025 and 2030 and involves the placement of more than 23,700 cameras to ensure citizen protection and tranquility, some 16,250 for traffic safety and about 230 for defense purposes.
Of the 40,000 new cameras to be installed, 12,000 will be of the PTZ type (with horizontal, vertical, and zoom movement capable of directional control and zoom); some 28,000 will be fixed with a static angle, which cannot be adjusted after installation.
Funding for the program will come from the state budget, mobilized capital sources, and other legal channels. Vietnam News reported that the city also encourages contributions from organizations and individuals.
There are currently some 19,400 surveillance cameras in operation in the capital, including nearly 4,000 PTZ cameras. Around 100 localities already have such equipment installed at key entrances and roads to monitor traffic and maintain order.
