According to the sources, the Saudi Foreign Minister will arrive from Lebanon and meet with new Syrian senior officials, headed by its chief, Ahmed Al-Sharaa.
The Saudi Minister recently confirmed during his speech at the Davos Forum that he had “cautious optimism” regarding Syria. He assured that the new Syrian administration has said the right thing secretly and publicly and is open to working with the international community to move in the right direction.
Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani visited Riyadh earlier this month, considered the first visit abroad by a Syrian official since the fall of Bashar Al-Assad’s government on December 8th. He also expressed Syria’s willingness to build strategic relations with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in all fields.
The head of the current Syrian government, Ahmed al-Shara, said that Damascus intends to make a strategic partnership with Riyadh and considered that Syria seeks stability and has important investment opportunities in the country.
Riyadh announced sending airplanes and 800 trucks loaded with humanitarian aid for the Syrian people.
