Last night Pete Hegseth was confirmed as Secretary of Defense after a rocky road in which obstacles appeared linked to accusations about his sexual misconduct and alcohol abuse, as well as criticism for an alleged lack of competence to exercise one of the main positions of the Executive.
In a statement published by the Department of Homeland Security, Noem said that she will work “every day” to keep Americans “safe and secure.”
“The Trump administration will once again empower our brave men and women in law enforcement to do their jobs and drive criminal aliens and illegal gangs out of our country,” the incoming secretary added.
She also thanked the president -of whom she is one of the most faithful allies- for the opportunity to serve and promised that she will fulfill the mandate “to secure our southern border and fix our broken immigration system.”
ABC News recalled that Noem, who will oversee 22 agencies with more than 260,000 employees working on issues ranging from the border to federal disaster management and the Secret Service, stressed that she will follow the law and implement reforms without political bias.
