Beijing, Jan 25 (Prensa Latina) Trade relations with the United States, commitment to multilateralism, alliance with Russia, tests of water contaminated with nuclear energy and celebrations prior to the Lunar New Year marked the week that ends today in China.

In the area of ​​relations with Washington, the Foreign Ministry of the Asian nation stressed the importance of a constructive dialogue based on respect, mutual benefit and peaceful coexistence.

Spokesmen pointed out that, despite trade frictions, there are broad possibilities for collaboration.

In addition, they questioned President Donald Trump’s tariff proposals and stated that “there are no winners in a trade war.”

Regarding the Republican’s decision to withdraw the United States from the World Health Organization, Beijing emphasized that this organization must continue its central role in global health governance, with a reinforced and not weakened role.

Regarding the controversy surrounding TikTok, the Foreign Ministry stressed that decisions on operations and acquisitions must be made in accordance with market principles and by the companies themselves.

“If they are Chinese companies, they must comply with the relevant laws and regulations of China,” said spokesman Guo Jiakun.

In response to Prensa Latina, the spokesman also criticized the decision of the newly installed US government to reinsert Cuba on the list of countries sponsoring terrorism and questioned Washington’s international credibility.

Regarding China-US ties, the telephone conversation between the foreign minister, Wang Yi, and the new Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, was also in the news.

This week, President Xi Jinping held a video conference with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, and both agreed to strengthen bilateral relations in 2025 to face “external uncertainties.”

He stressed the need to deepen strategic coordination, support each other and safeguard the legitimate interests of both nations, while strengthening and expanding practical cooperation.

Regarding Japan’s Fukushima water discharge, China completed independent analysis of the samples, which revealed no abnormalities in the concentrations of tritium, cesium-137 and strontium-90.

However, Beijing reiterated its opposition to the unilateral discharge and called for greater international supervision to ensure global security.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism implemented 27 initiatives aimed at Lunar New Year celebrations, with the aim of preserving traditions and boosting consumption.

The measures include tourist routes, discounts and a program called “One Hundred Cities, One Thousand Seasons.”

The New Year 2025 will mark the first time that the holiday is celebrated as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage and the holiday will be extended to eight days to stimulate tourism and the domestic economy.
