In a statement issued recently in this capital, the NAM described the move as “arbitrary and unilateral” and a politically motivated action that contradicts international calls for the normalization of relations with Cuba.
The decision, announced on January 20, reverses the policy of the previous US administration, which removed Cuba from that list a few days earlier, the document added.
The NAM also emphasized that such actions undermine the credibility of the United States SSOT list and exacerbate the ongoing financial, economic, and commercial blockade that has severely affected Cuba for more than six decades.
It also argues that those actions serve as a pretext for additional coercive measures that violate the United Nations Charter and International Law.
Finally, in its statement, the NAM urged the US government to remove Cuba from that list immediately and lift the blockade, which has been widely condemned by the international community, including in the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
