In an opinion article, journalist Kamal Gaballa highlighted his stay in the Caribbean nation to participate in the 6th International Conference for the World’s Balance.
Gaballa noted that about 1,000 delegates from nearly 100 countries attended the meeting.
The journalist wrote in the newspaper, “I witnessed a warm welcome, the generosity and hospitality of people fighting against injustice and the US siege.”
The reporter recalled that this was his third trip to Cuba, after those made in 2006 and 2023.
He underscored that his stay in Havana coincided with the beginning of US President Donald Trump’s second term and his decision to include the island again in Washington’s State Sponsors of Terrorism (SSOT) list.
Trump’s announcement to expel thousands of immigrants to the US naval base in Guantanamo, a portion of Cuban territory illegally occupied by that northern nation, is added, he said.
However, the journalist affirmed that since the triumph of the Cuban Revolution on January 1, 1959, that nation and its inhabitants have not given in to the fierce and continuous attacks from the northern power.
Gaballa highlighted his meetings with Cuban leaders and several prominent figures, including President Miguel Diaz-Canel, which he considered one of the three events that marked his visit.
The other two events were the March of the Torches, which paid tribute to National Hero Jose Marti on his 170th birthday, and the Conference.
