Emirati government rejects US-Israeli plan for Gaza

Abu Dhabi, Feb 19 (Prensa Latina) The United Arab Emirates (UAE) today rejected the proposal of the United States and Israel for a forced displacement of the population of the Gaza Strip, and defended the reconstruction of the Palestinian enclave, local media reported here.

According to the official news agency WAN, in his meeting with the Secretary of State of the United States, Marco Rubio, the Emirati president, Mohamed bin Zayed, reaffirmed his government’s position of rejecting any attempt to displace the Palestinian people from their land.

Rubio arrived in the Arab country from Israel, and the meeting took place as part of his tour this week through several countries in the region.

The information adds that Bin Zayed also stressed the importance of linking the reconstruction of Gaza to a path that leads to a comprehensive and lasting peace, based on the two-state solution as the only way to guarantee stability in the region.

The Arab community and a large part of the international community consider the Washington-Tel Aviv project to be an act of ethnic cleansing, considered by international law to be a crime against humanity, and liable to be considered a crime of genocide.
