Parrilla, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) wrote on X: “we agreed on the possibilities of advancing in diversifying bilateral cooperation on the basis of mutual trust and previous experiences in various areas.”
According to the program of the visit, the Cuban Foreign Minister and his delegation will meet on Friday with Laotian Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone.
Shortly after his arrival in Vientiane, Rodríguez Parrilla was received by the Secretary General of the Popular Revolutionary Party (PPRL) and President of Laos, Thongloun Sisoulith, whom he defined as a friend of Cuba and reiterated the high priority that his country gives to the development of ties with Laos.
During the meeting, the Laotian President stressed that this visit has great significance, since its objective is to further strengthen and deepen the fraternal friendship and long-standing cooperation between the two countries. “Laos and Cuba are strategic partners and fraternal nations with a long history of excellent collaboration. Bilateral political relations are at an excellent level and continue to strengthen, with constant coordination, communication and mutual support in the regional and international spheres,” he said.
The official visit to Laos by the head of Cuban diplomacy is part of a tour that took him to Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam, and at the end of which he will attend the 58th session of the UN Human Rights Council, which will begin on February 24th in Geneva.
