Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian affirmed that Washington’s actions, under the pretext of national security, discriminate against Beijing after describing it as a “foreign adversary” and increasing restrictions on bilateral investment.
“China expresses its strong dissatisfaction and firm opposition,” the spokesperson stated and added that a formal protest had been filed on the matter.
According to Lin Jian, the tightened security checks on Chinese investment in the United States erode business confidence and damage the US business environment.
He also criticized the restrictions imposed on US companies seeking to invest here, which he described as an interference in autonomous business decisions.
He underscored, “By excluding Chinese companies and markets, the United States will end up harming its economic interests and international credibility.”
The spokesperson urged Washington to abide by international investment and trade rules, respect market laws, and stop politicizing and abusing economic issues.
