A quarter of a million users remain without electricity in Chile

Santiago de Chile, Feb 26 (Prensa Latina) About 250 000 homes remain without electricity service in Chile today, after the blackout that affected almost the entire national territory, informed the Superintendence of Energy and Fuels (SEC).

Most of the customers without power are in the north of the country, in Tarapacá, Arica and Parinacota and Atacama, although there are others affected in Antofagasta, Los Lagos and La Araucanía.

The SEC added that in the Metropolitan Region of Santiago there are around 2,000 homes without power, almost all of them in Maipú.

On the other hand, the Government lifted the curfew and the state of emergency due to catastrophe, established to mobilize the police forces and army troops in order to protect the population.

Scholl activities are suspended during the day this Wednesday for the schools that had brought forward the resumption of the school year, officially scheduled for Monday, March 3.

After some delays in the early hours of the morning, the subway and urban train services in the capital are operating normally.

Meanwhile, investigations continue to establish the causes of the massive power outage.
