Spokesman Lin Jian responded in this way to statements by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who said that Moscow depends too much on Beijing and suggested that both countries could join forces to confront Washington.
According to the spokesman, ties between China and Russia have a solid internal dynamic and are not affected by third countries.
“The relationship between China and Russia is stable and strategic, with long-term development and diplomatic policies,” he said, and added that regardless of changes in the international situation, bilateral ties will advance with confidence and stability.
Rubio’s statements reflect Washington’s concerns about cooperation between Moscow and Beijing, at a time of renewed trade and diplomatic tensions between the United States and China.
China upholds the principles of non-interference in internal affairs, mutual respect and win-win cooperation in international relations.
Regarding its ties with Russia, the Foreign Ministry has repeatedly pointed out the legitimacy and right of both countries to trade and have other exchanges.
Presidents Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping recently held a telephone conversation in which they exchanged views on the development of bilateral relations. Both reaffirmed that Russian-Chinese ties are not directed against anyone and play a stabilizing role in world affairs.
