Cuba’s cigar trade in the foreground

Havana, Feb 27 (Prensa Latina) The importance of the trade of premium or Cuban hand-rolled cigars is attracting the attention and raising debate during the 25th Habanos Festival.

Precisely, the Trade Fair is one of the sections of the meeting that strongly attracts the professionals of the sector who participate in the event. To this end, 90 exhibitors from 10 nations, whose objective is mainly focused on exchanges and approaches, are present.

During the opening (on February 24), Cuban First Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment Carlos Luis Jorge toured the exhibitions in the company of the Co-Presidents of Habanos S.A., Maritza Carrillo and Luis Sánchez, and other executives such as Tabacuba President Marino Murillo.

With the help of Habanos S.A., a global leader in the marketing of premium cigars, the event combines educational, commercial and cultural activities, highlighting the resilience of a key industry for Cuba’s economy.

Strategies on new products, diversification and constant exclusive presentations around the world give a touch of distinction to Cuba cigar marketing.

Precisely, during this Festival, the focus is on the 35th anniversary of La Casa del Habano franchise, the 15th anniversary of the Behike Line of the Cohiba brand, and other dates that cigar aficionados follow closely.

Habanos S.A. distributes its 27 brands and more than 200 vitolas or types of premium cigars in more than 130 countries.

In 2024, it reported sales of 721 million euros, with Europe as the main market (58 percent), followed by the Americas (19) and Asia (15). Cohiba, the best-selling brand, represents 25 percent of its income, according to media outlets such as Cubadebate.

For Cuba, the event reinforces its position as a leader in luxury cigars, a sector that contributes 400 million dollars annually to its economy and employs more than 30,000 people, the message said.
