Sudanese Army Offensive on Khartoum affects civilians

Khartoum, Mar 3 (Prensa Latina) The advance of the Sudanese Army's offensive over sectors of this capital under control of the paramilitary forces is causing serious effects on the child population, local media denounced on Monday.

Medical sources informed that the cost of clashes for the country’s children is devastating, as the lives of many children and adolescents are being torn apart by violence, hunger, and war wounds.

One of the healthcare centers receiving the most injured civilians is the Omdurman Hospital, where people continue to arrive with severe wounds and burns if they manage to survive the shelling after having lost all their belongings.

The hospital’s Director General, Dr. Maha Hussein, noted that the ongoing clashes between the Army and the so-called Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have resulted in a massive influx of children in need of urgent medical care for war-related injuries, malnutrition, and disease.

The offensive had been expected for two weeks when the Army forces retook areas controlled by their RSF opponents on the northern and western approaches to Khartoum and the twin city of Omdurman.
