The Foreign Ministry spokesman issued a statement saying that this latest action is part of Israel’s systematic campaign to deny much needed humanitarian aid to millions of Palestinians in dire need, and called the decision another flagrant violation of international law that threatens the ceasefire agreement.
Pakistan urged the international community to develop actions that guarantee unrestricted humanitarian access to Gaza and to hold Israel accountable for imposing collective punishment by denying assistance to millions of civilians. It also reiterated the call for the full implementation of the ceasefire agreement to ensure the permanent extension of this relief measure for the inhabitants of Gaza.
Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry also called for the revival of a political process to achieve a two-state solution, with a viable and sovereign Palestine based on the pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
Recently, the Union of Municipalities of the Gaza Strip warned of the humanitarian catastrophe the inhabitants are enduring as a result of 15 months of Israeli attacks.
The institution said in a statement that the municipalities lack the capacity to respond effectively to the crisis due to the shortage of equipment, personnel and the massive destruction that affected the infrastructure and services sectors, including health and education.
The Union requested heavy machinery to remove millions of tons of debris and waste piled up in the Strip, and construction materials, in order to repair the infrastructure and rebuild as many service facilities as possible. It also requested fuel, solar panels, electric generators, pipes and spare parts, and some 500 computers and servers to restore digital work and water systems.
