The official made the announcement after holding a telephone call on Wednesday with the White House National Security Adviser, Mike Waltz.
“We exchanged points of view on security issues and coordination of positions in the context of bilateral relations between Ukraine and the United States and agreed that our teams would meet in the near future to continue this important work,” wrote Ermak on his Telegram channel.
He also stated that “the next steps towards a fair and lasting peace” were discussed.
On Friday, US President Donald Trump received his Ukrainian counterpart, Vladimir Zelensky, at the White House, with whom he hoped to sign an agreement on rare earth minerals, a condition imposed by the US president for continuing Washington’s support for Kiev.
The meeting ended in a clash between Zelensky and his hosts, who accused the Ukrainian president of not respecting the United States or being committed to achieving peace.
After the discussion, Zelensky left the White House without signing the agreement. Trump later said that Zelensky was “not ready” to seal peace with Russia, although he assured that he could return when he was.
On Monday, the Fox News television channel reported, citing a senior White House official, that the United States is suspending military aid to Ukraine until Trump sees Kyiv’s commitment to the peace process.
The day before, Zelensky wrote on social media that he regretted the discussion with Trump at the White House and asked to resume talks as soon as possible.
