According to a joint statement from several institutions, law enforcement agents located this 34-year-old man and two other people in the municipality of Poanas, in the state of Durango: Tereso “N” (57) and Alicia “N” (30).
According to the investigation, Leonel “N” –identified by local media as Leonel Salas, member of the criminal group Los Cabrera, linked to the Pacific Cartel– was dedicated to drug and human trafficking in the Juarez Valley.
In addition, he has an arrest warrant for the crime of aggravated kidnapping, while Alicia “N” coordinates the sale of narcotics in the border area.
The individuals were arrested, informed of their rights and, along with doses of drugs and a confiscated firearm, placed at the disposal of the corresponding Public Ministry agent, who will determine their legal situation.
Elements of the Navy, Defense and Security and Citizen Protection secretariats, as well as the National Guard and the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic participated in the operation.
During the little more than five months of the current Mexican government, the authorities seized 6,998 firearms (75 percent of which came from the United States), and 121.4 tons of drugs, including 1,260 kilograms and 1,332,126 fentanyl pills
The administration is implementing a national security strategy based on four axes of action: attention to the causes, consolidation of the National Guard, strengthening of intelligence and investigation, and coordination with the federal entities.
