China advocates for shared security, talks on Ukraine

Beijing, Mar 7 (Prensa Latina) The main lesson of the Ukraine crisis is that 'the security of one country cannot be built on the insecurity of another,' Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said today.

He stressed the importance of a political solution through talks and negotiation, while calling on the international community to work for a just and lasting peace agreement.

“The ice was not formed in a day and its thawing will not happen overnight either,” the incumbent said as he acknowledged the complexity of the roots of the crisis.

The head of diplomacy in the Asian nation made these statements at a press conference on the sidelines of the third session of the 14th National People’s Congress and the third session of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, the highest advisory body.

“China’s position has always been objective and fair, with a balanced and rational approach, aimed at creating conditions for a peaceful solution,” he said.

He stressed that Beijing supports all international efforts aimed at achieving peace and has acted as a bridge to facilitate the talks.

Wang Yi insisted that ‘conflict has no winners, while peace will have no losers’.

The minister emphasized that a negotiating table should be the final point of this crisis and the beginning of reconciliation.

“Although the positions of the parties do not fully coincide, there is a valuable consensus: the need for a peace agreement that is fair, lasting, binding and accepted by all parties involved,” he added.

According to Wang Yi, China is willing to contribute constructively to the final resolution of the crisis, in coordination with the international community and respecting the will of the parties involved.
