The head of Chinese diplomacy said in a press briefing that this is a principle in international relations and an essential premise for bilateral links.
“No country can intend, on the one hand, to suppress and contain China, while seeking on the other to develop good relations with it,” he stated.
He added that such a behavior “not only harms the stability of the bilateral relations but also unable to build mutual trust.”
China’s top diplomat stressed that, as the largest developing country and the leading developed power, China and the United States have a responsibility to coexist peacefully on the planet.
Wang Yi pointed out that both nations share broad common interests and a vast space for cooperation, enabling them to be partners in achieving common prosperity.
About the future of bilateral relations, the foreign minister indicated that Beijing will promote the stable, healthy, and sustainable development of ties with Washington from the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation.
