At the meeting in Jakarta, Maharani assessed the possibilities of upgrading bilateral relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership, and affirmed that Indonesia always attaches importance to strengthening ties of friendship and multi-faceted cooperation with Vietnam.

Both sides agreed to work together to raise the value of trade exchange to US$18 billion by 2028.

The Legislative Chairwoman stressed the importance of fostering people-to-people exchanges as the basis for lasting friendship, and promoting cooperation between political parties in Indonesia and the Communist Party of Vietnam.

In turn, To Lam hailed Indonesia’s great achievements in all fields, and hoped that the Indonesian people will continue to achieve new successes in the future.

The two leaders agreed that Vietnam and Indonesia are two countries with an important role in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, are reliable partners and share many similar interests and views.
