Cuba’s patrimonial city of Sancti Spíritus to host book festival

Sancti Spiritus, Cuba, Mar 13 (Prensa Latina) The patrimonial city of Sancti Spíritus, founded in 1514, will live from today days of celebration with the XXXIII International Book Fair (FIL) which will close its chapter in Sancti Spíritus on March 16.

Luis Mateo Lorenzo, director of the “Luminaria Editions”, highlighted in a press conference the 25th anniversary of the Territorial Editions System (SET), promoted by the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro Ruz (1926-2016).

He insisted that for literary creators represented the possibility of gaining access to the publishing world as never before.

In the case of Luminaria, he said, it has been in existence for more than 30 years, a long history, but since 2000 it joined SET, which brought many benefits for the creation and literary heritage of this central province.

He confessed his joy for the decision that the 25th anniversary of SET is one of the reasons for this book festival and later he said that this time is when more friendly publishers will be in Sancti Spiritus, the fourth of the first seven villages of Cuba.

Among all the invitations issued there are about 10 publishing houses and all of them are bringing books, he said.

As for Verde Olivo, it is a publishing house that has paid a lot of attention to local creators.

It is very difficult for their catalog not to have an author from Sancti Spiritus and now they will present two digital books by the writer from Yaguajay, José Eusebio Chirino’, he said.

He mentioned other publishing houses such as Oriente, Caminos, Letras Cubanas, Ediciones Cubanas and one he described as very special, that of the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (Icaic).
