During his speech after the election results were announced, Briceño assured that the victory is a clear reaffirmation of Belize’s vocation and struggle for its independence and the defense of the Constitution.
Of all 31 seats in Parliament in dispute, the PUP won 26, while the opposing United Democratic Party (UDP) won only five, which is considered a resounding victory for the governing party.
After greeting and thanking his supporters, the re-elected president announced the ‘Plan Belize 2.0’ with which he intends to create more jobs, advance in the economic transformation, improve education and the health system as well as building houses.
With these results, the PUP renews its term of office initiated in the 2020 elections, in the face of a weakened, fragmented opposition with little capacity for renewal.
