The spokeswoman posted on her Telegram channel that her announcement comes one day after Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi described US President Donald Trump’s proposal to begin direct negotiations to revive the nuclear deal as “pointless.”
Araghchi stated that it makes no sense to engage in dialogue with a government that threatens the use of force and sends contradictory messages. However, he reiterated that Iran remains committed to a peaceful solution and prefers negotiations through mediators, as Oman currently does.
It became known that Iran and the United States will meet on Saturday in Oman for high-level indirect talks.
On Monday, Trump announced that Washington and Tehran were already holding direct consultations that would continue on Saturday “at almost the highest level,” but offered no further details.
