The members of the General Confederation of Labor (CGT), the Central Workers of Argentina (CTA), and the Autonomous CTA (CTA-A) accompany senior citizens and other social organizations in their usual Wednesday demonstration before the National Congress they call Wednesdays of Dignity.
According to the planned agenda, participants in the march denounce the economic and social policies President Javier Milei have put in place that have caused a tough adjustment.
On Thursday, those trade unions will start a 24-hour general strike, the third one called during the administration of the head of La Libertad Avanza (Liberty Advances-LLA) party. The first two rallies were held on January 24 and May 9, 2024.
This Thursday’s strike will occur in a context marked by the dismissal of thousands of workers, the continuity of a strong adjustment, the cancellation of public works, the increase of poverty, the repression of demonstrators, and the publication of a decree authorizing the Government to sign a new agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
In a press release, the CGT stated that the measure was organized to denounce intolerable social inequality and call on the Executive’s attention to the citizens’ demands, better income, and a dignified life for all.
