During her first day in this nation, Moncada met with General Miguel Mendez, chief of the Puerto Rican National Guard, at Fort Buchanan on Tuesday, according to official sources quoted in this capital by the media.
In addition, Mendez welcomed General Roosevelt Hernandez, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Honduran Armed Forces; US military attache in this country, Miguel Gonzalez; and political-military advisor Drew Bazil, who traveled with the minister.
Moncada’s trip to San Juan is part of the Partner States Program to strengthen collaboration ties between both nations in the said areas.
The agenda includes meetings with the island’s highest authorities on security, defense, and natural disaster response agencies.
In the first of those areas, the two countries’ armed forces will exchange experiences and best practices to strengthen capabilities in fighting transnational organized crime, drug trafficking, and the effects of environmental phenomena on national security.
