“A lot of fake news is being published now, even in respectable media, so we should only listen to primary sources,” the spokesman told reporters on Wednesday, reiterating that negotiations between Russia and the United States on the conflict in Ukraine are difficult and require time.
On Tuesday, the Financial Times reported that, during the meeting in the Russian city of St. Petersburg on April 11, Putin allegedly proposed to Witkoff that the Ukrainian conflict be halted at the current front lines.
On that date, Putin met with Witkoff at the Presidential Library in St. Petersburg. The meeting lasted 4.5 hours, marking their third, following meetings on February 11th and March 13th.
Kremlin’s representative for economic cooperation and investment, Kiril Dmitriev, a key figure in recent contacts between Moscow and Washington, described the April meeting as “productive,” without offering further details.
