Historic Cuban victory at Playa Giron remembered in Russia (+Photos)

Moscow Apr 25 (Prensa Latina) The 64th anniversary of the historic victory of the Cuban Revolution over mercenary troops organized and paid by the United States at Playa Giron was celebrated today at the monument to Fidel Castro in this capital.

The meeting, presided over by Cuba’s second chief of mission in Moscow, Ambassador Enrique Orta, was attended by Russian internationalist veterans, representatives of the Russian Ministries of Defense and Foreign Affairs, deputies of the State Duma, military attachés accredited in the country, and the staff of the Cuban state mission, as reported by Prensa Latina.

Cuba’s Naval and Air Military Attaché, Mónica Milián, recalled the importance of the victory won by the Cuban Revolution at Playa Girón, in the face of a plan meticulously prepared by the U.S. administration to put an end to the social project of Cuba.

Today, 64 years after those events, the enemy is distorting the Cuban reality, provoking negative states of opinion and fomenting discontent among the population to reverse Cuba’s political and social work, “but just as in Playa Girón, they will be defeated”, Milián affirmed.

In turn, Lieutenant General Alexander Kizhimiovski, on behalf of the Russian Ministry of Defense, congratulated all the people of Cuba on the occasion of the 64th anniversary of Playa Girón’s triumph and the proclamation by the leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro, of a socialist, independent, and sovereign path of development.
