On the last day of her official visit to Cambodia, Shinawatra announced that Washington’s reciprocal tariffs on the bloc’s exports were one of the issues discussed with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet.
The two explored a possible regional cooperation framework to combine each country’s strengths and enhance ASEAN’s negotiating capacity, the prime minister said.
Thailand is closely monitoring the situation following U.S. President Donald Trump’s order to delay the implementation of tariffs for 90 days.
Shinawatra warned that “many things have changed” since the announcement of the pause and that the U.S. must assess the response of affected countries.
The Thai government postponed tariff negotiations with the U.S. after U.S. officials requested a review of certain issues.
