In a speech delivered prior to the parade, the union leader stressed that this Thursday marks the 25th anniversary of the historic leader, Fidel Castro, who delivered “the most integral concept of what Revolution means, which millions of Cubans have subscribed to”.
Guilarte pointed out that this year’s International Workers’ Day is being celebrated in a complicated international scenario, since the world is suffering a renewed and dangerous imperialist offensive with neo-fascist expressions that seek to redesign the international system.
He warned that imperialist forces seek to disregard the principles of peaceful coexistence and sovereign equity among States, as well as to reverse the achievements of justice and human dignity attained by the peoples.
In this context, he specified that Cuba will maintain its unwavering decision to be faithful to its heroes and preserve the Homeland, “that at the cost of enormous sacrifices and the blood of its best sons, knew how to maintain us on our feet and fighting”.
