Quoted by the Euroactiv website, the EU chief affirmed that Washington is considering withdrawing from the peace process in Ukraine, and if this happens and the United States begins a rapprochement with Russia, the community bloc plans to maintain sanctions.

Negotiations are underway with the United States and other international partners to ensure such a policy.

According to Kallas, Plan B considers the possibility that Hungary blocks the prolongation of sanctions on Russia in July.

She also underscored that the community bloc should not focus too much on this plan, so as not to cause an escalation of the situation.

The Kremlin noted earlier that sanctions create problems mainly for the EU, while Russia successfully copes with them.
