The organization indicated that it will report on the electoral audit process at a press conference this Tuesday.
Following the official proclamation by the National Electoral Council (CNE) of the victory of the current president, Daniel Noboa, the RC insists on the existence of a “mega-fraud.”
The formal declaration of the election winners came after the Electoral Contentious Tribunal (TCE) denied the final appeal filed by the RC-Renovación Total (RETO) alliance, which supported the candidacy of Luisa González. González emphasized in interviews with national media that during the elections her rival and other state institutions violated the law and the Constitution by buying votes or using public resources and also alleged fraud.
The joint prosecutor for the political organizations, Francisco Estarellas, filed several complaints against the election results with the CNE and the TCE, all of which were rejected. He also explained to local media that there were numerous irregularities in the tally sheets and asserted that there were flaws in the system that harmed candidate González, who obtained 44.37 percent of the votes, according to official data.
This week, the RC presented an expert report by the Spanish Canary Islands Institute of Criminological Analysis (ICAC) to support its theory of alleged “fraud” in the second round of elections on April 13. The organization, led by former President Rafael Correa (2007-2017), relied on the conclusions of an expert who considered that highly transferable ink was used in the vote, which could mark the ballot boxes of both candidates and undermine the electoral process.
Despite this analysis and other expert reports that assert that the election results are impossible and anomalous, international observers ruled out fraud. However, in their reports, they noted that the process was marked by irregularities, including Noboa’s lack of a license, the use of public resources, and the declaration of a state of emergency.
