The repeated efforts made by the Bolivian National Action Party (PAN-BOL) and the political instrument EVO Pueblo to register their candidates before the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE) were unsuccessful this Monday because these political organizations are not legally set up to participate in the elections. Wilma Alanoca, vice-presidential candidate selected by Morales and former Culture Minister, denounced that the TSE avoided registering the former president as a PAN-BOL candidate, which she described as a “blow to democracy.”
This group and the Front for Victory (FPV) party did not reach the minimum three percent vote in the 2020 general elections.
Morales signed an agreement to participate in the elections with the FPV acronym as a first resort, but that pact was broken. The coca growers’ leader said he had other options to run in the polls.
It was revealed on Monday that Morales allied with PAN-BOL.
