The German party noted that while the EU adopts the 17th round of sanctions on Russia, US President Donald Trump and China demonstrate that the community is heading towards a dead end of foreign policy isolation.
The AfD stated that the US president openly opposes the German government’s stance and makes it clear that it does not support the demand for a ceasefire, which is an insult to Berlin and the EU.
The far-right party also argued that China clearly warns of the consequences of such measures.
The AfD statement affirmed that the EU is losing influence in the world because it is betting on escalation instead of diplomacy.
On May 20, the European Union adopted the 17th sanctions package on Russia, blacklisting 17 individuals, 58 companies, and 189 tankers transporting Russian oil and petroleum products.
