The president of the National Defense Council and president of the Republic, Miguel Diaz-Canel, reviewed the updated measures for responding to events of various kinds that frequently strike the Caribbean nation.
Accompanied by the chief of the National Civil Defense Staff, Major General Ramon Pardo, and other senior officials, the president outlined urgent and necessary aspects to protect lives and material resources.
In the telematic conference with provincial leaders, Pardo urged everyone to check the degree of compliance of the measures outlined in disaster risk reduction plans, “with an emphasis on prevention, which will make it possible to increase the capacity for action, response and recovery, and minimize losses,” he noted.
Later, as part of Meteoro 2025, the president of the National Civil Defense Center participated in the firefighting drill held at Yuri Gagarin Military-Industrial Enterprise, where the use of new technologies and firefighting equipment was showed.
Afterwards, Diaz-Canel, accompanied by the vice president of the National Defense Council, Salvador Valdes, toured the Advanced Mobile Communications Center, in charge of ensuring the exchange, concealment, and processing of official information, according to the presidential website.
Likewise, in other areas of the exercise, the head of state was briefed on the use of drones, mobile health vehicles, and aerial resources to support disaster response.
