Sources indicated that the new Syrian government’s efforts to rebuild strategic relations with the United States were the main topic of discussion at the meeting.
The two sides also reviewed ways to support foreign investment in Syria, particularly in the energy and infrastructure sectors.
In this regard, the president offered to provide facilities and a stable and secure environment to attract investors and contribute to reconstruction efforts.
He explained to the US envoy that sanctions continue to impose a significant burden on the Syrian people and hinder economic recovery efforts.
In response, Barrack said that his country has already begun the process of easing sanctions, in implementation of President Donald Trump’s decision, and that these actions will continue until the complete and comprehensive lifting of the coercive measures is achieved.
On the political front, Al-Shara expressed its rejection of any attempt to divide the country and affirmed the Syrian government’s commitment to the unity and sovereignty of Syrian territory.
He also stressed the importance of implementing the 1974 Disengagement of Forces Agreement between Syria and Israel to ensure stability in southern Syria.
