The disease, which has surpassed 1,000 cases since early 2025 and has spread to several provinces, was declared an epidemic in seven provinces.
In particular, cholera cases have increased in the health zones of Kindu, Alunguli (Maniema), and Opala (Tshopo).
The financial support went to the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the World Health Organization (WHO), and its partners to improve access to safe water, sanitation infrastructure, and hygiene services.
It also expected to contribute to strengthening the prevention and control of epidemics and ensure rapid treatment of affected populations, Actualite CD reported.
The report also refers to Bruno Lemarquis, humanitarian coordinator in the DRC, who stressed that the activation of the cholera prevention framework demonstrates the relevance of this approach: intervene in time to contain the epidemic, protect communities, and avoid the aggravation of the health and humanitarian situation.
