The Council underscored that the Palestinian people “live in complex and catastrophic conditions, characterized by systematic assassinations and direct attacks on civilians.”
It estimates that the death toll amounts to tens of thousands, most of whom are women and children.
It also stressed that the military offensive caused widespread destruction of civilian infrastructure, including hospitals, schools, and shelters, which it considered a flagrant violation of the right to life.
The PNC questioned that since the war in Gaza started, Washington has repeatedly used its power of veto at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to prevent the approval of resolutions calling for a ceasefire and the protection of civilians.
