The official Palestinian news agency (Wafa) denounced that the Israeli military closed dozens of checkpoints in the West Bank, preventing citizens from moving to their places of work, studies or other activities.

The source stressed that they also closed several secondary roads between towns, villages and cities.

The Palestinian Commission of Resistance to the Wall and the Settlements also criticized the measure.

In a statement, the head of the body, Mu’ayyad Shaaban, explained that the occupying troops tightened the siege and operations in all governorates.

The closure flagrantly violates the basic rights guaranteed to the Palestinian people, in particular to move and receive medical treatment, he stressed.

Such actions constitute an extension of an endless series of repressive measures practiced by Israel against our compatriots, he warned.

Shaaban explained that most of the 898 gates, barriers and intentional roadblocks were closed this morning.

This constitutes the culmination of the terrorism practiced against the Palestinian people and perpetuates collective punishment, he criticized.

Mahmoud Mardawi, of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), also condemned the siege.

The leader of the Islamist group warned of the dangerous repercussions of this escalation, which coincides with the Israeli attack on Iran.
