In a speech at the National Autonomous University of Nicaragua (UNAN-Managua) during the Puente Chino 2025 competition held this week, Ortega highlighted the meaning of the initiative in terms of the comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.
“It will allow us as Nicaraguans to participate fully and actively in the development programs and projects that we have been implementing with the government and companies of the People’s Republic of China,” he said.
The rector of UNAN-Managua, Angela Munguía, spoke about the importance of the event, which was organized by the Chinese embassy and the Confucius Institute of Nicaragua.
She said that the competition not only assesses Chinese language skills, but also promotes a deeper understanding of the traditions, history, and society of China, which represents a bridge connecting people with that culture.
“We would like to express our gratitude to the Confucius Institute for organizing the program, its dedication and effort have made possible a truly important and enriching event for all lovers of the Chinese language and culture,” she emphasized.
In September 2024, the first Confucius Institute in Nicaragua was inaugurated here, with the aim of making the study of Chinese language and culture available, as well as strengthening professional skills within the framework of cooperation relations between Managua and Beijing.
