According to the radio station, the issue will be discussed for the first time at a meeting of European Union (EU) energy ministers in Luxembourg.
On the way to the meeting, Szijjarto pointed out that the plan was presented by the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, at the request of Volodymir Zelenski, for the benefit of Ukraine.
They want to deprive Hungary of cheap Russian energy sources, and therefore we will have to pay two, three or even four times more for utilities than before, Szijjarto wrote on Facebook.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban announced on June 15 that, at the next meeting, Szijjarto will propose to withdraw the plan from the agenda, as it is completely inappropriate in a situation where Israel’s war with Iran could threaten global energy security.
Budapest, instead, proposes that the EU analyze how a military conflict in the Middle East could affect the world energy situation and how its negative consequences can be prevented.
