Most of the patients are adults, although there is one case involving a child under three years old, the Ministry of Health detailed in a statement, emphasizing that all received treatment, are stable, alive, and recovered.
They are residents of the departments of Jutiapa, Chiquimula, Suchitepéquez, Santa Rosa, Jalapa, and Quiché, the MSPAS added, while reiterating its call for the population to strengthen preventive measures.
It suggested properly covering any wounds, maintaining personal and household hygiene, protecting oneself in rural environments, and seeking medical attention at the nearest health service for any suspicious injuries.
The Public Health Ministry (MSPAS) confirmed that it is coordinating actions with the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Food (MAGA) to identify potential sources of infestationess and prevent new cases.
