France learned with concern about US bombings, in which we did not participate in either their execution or planning, the Foreign Ministry emphasized in a statement.
In this regard, it urged all parties to avoid any escalation that could lead to the spread of the conflict, a call similar to the one made by the European Union through its High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas.
President Donald Trump himself announced the bombing of sites such as Fordo, Natanz, and Isfahan, intended for Iran’s nuclear program.
Iran defends the right to the peaceful use of nuclear energy, while the West accuses it of seeking nuclear weapons.
In this regard, the French Foreign Ministry included in its reaction that Paris firmly opposes Iran’s access to such devices, which Israel does possess, although it has never acknowledged this.
The statement also reflects that France’s priority is to guarantee the safety of its agents and citizens present in the Middle East, amid the tenth day of exchanges of attacks between Iran and Israel, which sparked the crisis with their aggression on June 13.
France is convinced of the need to negotiate a non-proliferation treaty on Iran’s nuclear program, the government added.
