The tribute to the Cuban intellectual is part of the activities being held by that cultural institution to mark his 60th anniversary.
The book was produced by Cubaliteraria and was previously launched as part of the 33rd Havana Book Fair 2025.
According to researcher Marta Lesmes, the work offers an interesting sample of the main topics covered in the writer’s long creative career (Fomento, Sancti Spiritus; 1946).
She noted that the poetry in these 12 texts overflows with latent paradoxes and contradictions.
“Paradoxes are upon us from the very beginning. How can we be both paralyzed and an athlete; simultaneously victim and victimizer, newborn and elderly,” she said, quoted by the Cubaliteraria website.
Lopez Lemus’s literary and essayistic work includes some twenty titles, including “Hacia la luz y hacia la vida. El pan de Aser”, 1983 (Towards the Light and Towards Life. Asher’s Bread); “La sola edad”, 1990 (The Single Age), “Cuerpo del dia”, 2000 (Body of the Day), “El peldaño”, 2010 (The Step), “Hipno” (2018) and “Veinte veces el amor”, 2018 (Twenty Times Love)
