We have condemned here and now the unjust economic blockade of the US government, which is almost 65 years old, said Petushkov at the Jose Marti Memorial, during the inauguration of the 1st Cuba-Russia Youth Forum ‘Heritage, Innovation and Future’.
Such a policy is also disapproved at the United Nations, he stressed, and indicated that ‘Russia also faces sanctions’ as part of the practices of Western powers against countries defending their self-determination.
It also revealed that the Council plans to create an international youth movement, to champion and defend the rights of peoples, especially children and youth.
We talked to organizations from Venezuela, Belarus and North Korea, and here we will discuss this proposal with the Union of Communist Youth (UJC), he commented.
This Forum, which is a dream come true, we want to use it also to consolidate relations between our youth, he added.
According to him, the meeting takes place in ‘a historical context’, because in 2025 we celebrate the 65th anniversary of the re-establishment of relations between Cuba and Russia and the 80th anniversary of the defeat of Fascism in the Great Patriotic War.
Petushkov arrived in this capital yesterday at the head of a delegation made up of 25 youth leaders representing 21 associations.
At the Memorial, the Russian representation paid tribute to the National Hero of Cuba and was officially received by the first secretary of the UJC, Meyvis Estevez, in the presence of the ambassador of the Slavic country, Victor V. Koronelli.
The Forum will last until next Friday, the program of the meeting includes visits to the school Solidarity with Panama, the Mariel Special Development Zone, the Fidel Castro Center and the Technological Science Park of Havana, among other places of historical, cultural and scientific interest.
