According to forecasts, significant rainfall is expected in eastern and southern Qinghai between Thursday and Saturday; therefore, a significant rise in water levels is expected in the upper reaches and tributaries of the Yellow River in that province, as well as in some small and medium-sized rivers from the largest hit areas.
Meteorologists urged local authorities to strengthen flood monitoring and early warning, ensure effective control of river flooding, and protect the lives and property of the population.
Based on rainfall forecasts for the next 24 hours, the ministry issued alerts for 10 additional provincial regions, including Hebei, Liaoning, and Hainan, urging them to take precautions and prepare for downpours.
A Level IV flood emergency protocol is currently in effect in the three provincial-level regions of Chongqing, Sichuan, and Gansu.
