The Presidency explained that the meeting will take place this Thursday morning at the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development, the organization that Fernandez leads.

Abinader recently reiterated his conviction that defending national sovereignty and managing the impact of the situation in neighboring nation demand a State position, built on consensus, accumulated experience, and respectful dialogue between the country’s leading political forces.

The president also visited former President Danilo Medina at the Presidential Palace of the Dominican Liberation Party on June 26 to discuss the state’s position before the international community regarding the neighboring country.

At the end of that meeting, the head of State reiterated that the worsening conditions in Port-au-Prince are having the greatest impact on the Dominican Republic and pointed out that he had talked about this and other national issues with Medina.
