In this edition, The Havana Reporter features the debates held in the country to deal with the complex economic situation Cuba faces at present and the measures to be taken in that regards.
In that context, the Cuban National Association of Economists and Accountants convened a congress that identified the Cuban economy’s structural problems and offered solutions.
At the congress’ closing speech, president Miguel Díaz-Canel stressed the commitment and contributions made by the Cuban economists, in addition to the important role they play in the country’s sustainable development and their resilience and creativity to overcome present economic challenges.
The Cuban Computer Specialists Union (UIC) also held its National Conference and highlighted the importance of youngsters’ participation in the digital transformation of the society, its development and the responsible use of Artificial Intelligence.
Other topics featured in this edition include the recent visit to Cuba of the Vatican’s Secretary for Relations with States and International Organization, Monseigneur Paul Richard Gallagher, on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between both states.
The anniversary of the Attack on the Moncada Barracks (July 26, 1953), an event that marked the beginning of the last stage of the fights that led to the triumph of the Revolution in 1959, is also featured in the present edition, as well as the statements of condemnation to the measures taken by the government of the United States, since the start of president Donald Trump’s second term on January 20, to punish Cuba.
The July edition of The Havana Reporter also includes cultural, sport and science topics.
